Hi Siblings - It’s an honor to be running to serve the membership, and I hope that you’ll support my candidacy.

It’s interesting to be “campaigning” while our WGA kin are on strike- while it’s a difficult and precarious time we also have the opportunity to hear the inspiring ways that the writers have articulated what they’re fighting for. They’re looking for security in their work and sustainable careers that allow for comfort without relegation to gig work - this clear mission hits home for me as I think about what I crave in our work as a union. Ten years into my career as an Associate Lighting Designer I think a lot about the sustainability of the work that we do and what I’m hoping for in the next few decades of my life.

  • Despite a deep love for the work that I do, my encounters negotiating individual agreements with employers have left me craving a more dignified experience - this is among my primary motivations for engaging in the work of our local. I strive to contribute to advance our ongoing work improving our collectively bargained agreements so that over time the minimum terms that cover all of us might be enough to provide a livable wage, healthcare, and retirement without having to spread ourselves so thin that a work/life balance is unattainable.

  • As an organization, our membership has the ability to affect change on job sites in other ways than going to the bargaining table, which positions us as thought leaders in an industry where we have representation up and down the call sheet and across a playbill’s title page.

  • I believe we must work together to help codify sustainable careers for all members of the design team as the workload and amount of support necessary to keep up with advancements in production values grow.

  • I hope to continue using this unique collection of viewpoints in combination with my ongoing education in labor law and organizing to serve our local, and inform an approach of optimization across the many facets of our operations.

I have the passion, energy, and drive to serve in our National Governance to continue working with and for our union. I’d be thrilled and honored to represent the membership on the LUEB. Thank you so much for your consideration.
